Roosevelt, Arizona Travel Guide
Introducing Roosevelt, Arizona! Located in the Tonto National Forest on the banks of Theodore Roosevelt Lake, Roosevelt is in central Arizona and is only home to about 30 people! Roosevelt is remote, with little except for the lake and Tonto National Monument. This does, however, make for a great escape from the city! Roosevelt is near Phoenix, AZ (1hr 50min, 105 miles), Sedona, AZ (2hr 30min, 135 miles), and Tucson, AZ (2hr 30min, 135 miles). Come and escape the city while lounging on the lake beaches, camping, and exploring the cliff dwellings!
Roosevelt is known for Theodore Roosevelt Lake. Many visitors enjoy bringing a cooler and spending the day lounging at Chunk Beach or Roosevelt Lake Beach. Visitors can also look at Theodore Roosevelt Dam, the Roosevelt Lake Bridge, and the Roosevelt Lake Scenic Overlook. Be sure to stop at the Roosevelt Lake Visitors Center on your way in! Want to spend the day on the lake? Consider renting from the Roosevelt Lake Marina. Tonto National Monument is a must-see while in the area. Take one of the short hikes to see cliff dwellings!
Being so small, there are not many options to fuel up on food in Roosevelt. Visitors can grab breakfast at Tonto Basin Butcher Hook Cafe and American favorites from F Finch’s Waterfront Kitchen and Bar and The Dam Grill and Chill.
Most visitors to Roosevelt come to camp. Dispersed camping on the beaches is popular, but visitors can also stay at Burnt Corral Campground, Windy Hill Campground, and Roosevelt Lake Marina. Roosevelt Resort Park offers motel rooms and cabin rentals. Want a whole place to yourself? Consider booking a Vrbo. Here are some of our favorites: Spanish Home for 8, Cozy Home for 8, and Lake House for 8.
While it may be small, Roosevelt is a great spot to disconnect, enjoy the desert, and escape the noise. Whatever you’re into, Roosevelt, Arizona has something worth seeing. We hope this travel guide gives you a glimpse into life in Roosevelt that can inspire a future visit.
