Green River, Utah Travel Guide

Introducing Green River, Utah!  Green River is located on I-70 and is situated on the beautiful Green River, hence its name.  Home to only around 1,000 people, the area attracts many visitors for its great state parks, paddling, and hiking opportunities.  Located near Moab, Utah (50min, 50 miles), Grand Junction, CO (1hr 30min, 100 miles), and Salt Lake City (2hr 50min, 180 miles).  Whether it’s a stop on your way to a national park or a week-long retreat on the river, come and see all the great things in Green River!

The Green River is a big destination for visitors.  Consider paddling, paddle camping, whitewater rafting, or fishing on the river!  Be sure to stop by Green River State Park in downtown Green River to enjoy the river, golf, disc golf, and the popular campground.  For more golf, head to Green River Golf Course for ball and disc golf.  Looking for a day at the beach?  Head to Swasey’s Beach, a white sand beach along the river.  Another great spot for outdoor recreation is Goblin Valley State Park for camping, fishing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, and boating.  Also, be sure to check out Black Dragon Canyon Trailhead and Spotted Wolf Canyon.  Want to learn more about the area?  Head to the John Weasley Powell River History Museum to learn about the Colorado and Green Rivers.

Need a snack?  Green River does not have many options for food, but there are some spots visitors do enjoy.  Try the fry bread and cinnamon rolls at Tamarisk Restaurant or Mexican favorites from El Charro Loco.  Grab burgers and apple pie from Ray’s Tavern and burgers, pizza, ice cream, and an arcade at Chow Hound.
