Guthrie, Oklahoma Travel Guide

Introducing Guthrie, Oklahoma!  Guthrie is home to around 10,000 residents in central Oklahoma and is known for its historic downtown district with Victorian architecture.  Guthrie was the original capital of Oklahoma before it was later switched to Oklahoma City.  Guthrie is also known for its shopping and museums.  Located near Oklahoma City, OK (40min, 35 miles), Tulsa, OK (1hr 40min, 95 miles), and Wichita, KS (2hr 15min, 130 miles). Come and see the beautiful preserved downtown buildings, shop the stores, and learn the history of the territory and state of Oklahoma in Guthrie!

The Guthrie Historic District downtown includes over 2000 buildings to walk around and explore.  Also downtown is the Pollard Theatre, a great spot to catch a show.  Here to learn?  Head to Oklahoma Frontier Drug Store Museum to learn about early medicine in the area, and walk through the apothecary garden next door.  Head to the Oklahoma Territorial Museum, located in the Carnegie Library, to learn about the territory of Oklahoma and the journey to statehood.

Guthrie has many shops to explore.  Try on some new clothes at Boutique 206 or dig for antiques at Magnolia Antique Mall or Town and Country Antiques and More.  For a sweet treat, head to Licorice Man! and try one of their many unique saltwater taffy flavors like pickle!  Consider seeing a movie on the big screen, from your car!  Pull up to Beacon Drive-In Theatre for fun for the whole family. 

Guthrie has lots of great restaurants for dining.  Consider starting your day at Katie’s Diner for breakfast, or grab a coffee from Hoboken Coffee Roasters.  For lunch, grab a sandwich and fried okra from C+C Eatery or chicken fried steak and onion rings from Stables Cafe.  Sip on an afternoon beer at Guthrie Brewery Company, a distillery tour and drink from Wanderfolk Spirits, or a nice cocktail at The Wander Inn. For dinner, finish off your evening at Roma’s Italian Restaurant for Italian classics, Gages Steak House in an old train station, or enjoy a murder mystery dinner at Stone Lion Inn.
