Foley, Alabama Travel Guide

Welcome to Foley, Alabama!  Foley is in southern Alabama near the Gulf Coast and is a popular spot to drive through on the way to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.  Foley is home to around 15,000 residents and has lots for visitors to do.  From spending the day at OWA to outlet shopping to a nature preserve, Foley has a little something for everyone.  Due to its location near the coast, Foley has a great selection of restaurants featuring seafood and a variety of barbecue and southern cooking establishments!  Cities in driving distance to Foley include Mobile, Alabama (1hr, 38 miles), Montgomery, Alabama (2hr 45min, 177 miles), and New Orleans (3hr, 180 miles).  Whether you are staying for a few days or a few hours during a drive to the coast, Foley is a great stop for everyone!

Foley is home to OWA Park Complex, which features a large indoor water park and an outdoor amusement park.  This is a favorite spot among travelers and a perfect spot to take the kids.  Foley is home to other fun attractions including Alligator Alley, an alligator sanctuary where visitors can see gators.  Head to the Foley Railroad Museum to see the model train exhibits or check out the Holmes Medical Museum to learn about and see medical techniques from the early to mid 1900s.

Want to do some shopping? Foley is home to a Tanger Shopping Outlet for all of your name-brand needs. Other local shops include Covert Comics for comic books and collectibles and The Yellow Submarine Records for vinyl.

For those looking to enjoy the beautiful coastal swamps, head to Graham Creek Nature Reserve!  This park has a kayak launch and multiple disc golf courses.  Hike along the nature trail boardwalks and see exotic native plants, like the pitcher plant!  Also check out Bamahenge, a recreation of Stonehenge, without traveling across the pond!

Foley is home to some lovely restaurants specializing in southern cooking, barbecue, and seafood.  Start your day with some caffeine from Drowsy Poet @The Foley Station.  Consider dining at the popular Lambert’s Cafe for southern food and their beloved apple butter for lunch.  Other great spots include Boggy’s for a southern buffet and Mamma Mia! Pizzeria for pizza.  For barbecue, head to LA Barbecue or Moe’s Original Barbecue.  For dinner, enjoy the seafood and salad bar at Wolf Bay Restaurant, an Italian meal at Portabellas, or fine dining at Local & Company Food & Drink.  Alternatively, drive a bit out of town to The Tin Top Restaurant and Oyster Bar.  This spot is beloved by locals and features gumbo and shrimp and grits.  Locals say it is worth the drive!  Finish off your day with a sweet treat from Mama Bear’s Bakery.
